Welcome to DocBreaker! I hope that here you will find a quick answer to the most common questions that arise when new software is encountered. For a complete reference, please see the application manual in Adobe Acrobat format.
What does DocBreaker do?
It breaks text documents in pieces, using the specified text attributes as a rule. Its interface is minimal but effective and lets you specify breaking criteria which can range from simple to real complex ones. It's a sort of document "cutter".
Both the input and the output documents can be provided in a variety of formats, thanks to Claris XTND System support. DocBreaker will read and write any text document for which an XTND translator is available.
Although DocBreaker is a standalone application, it was mainly conceived as a pre-processor for another application I wrote called DocAssembler, which groups and structures document collections and supports the XTND System as well. Togheter, they form a strong document management tool.
Which are its highlights?
• Claris XTND System support to remove file formats limitations;
• Complex conditions allowed for maximum flexibility.
What about system requirements?
DocAssembler requires a Macintosh with:
• MC68000 processor or better
• 4 Mb RAM
• Color QuickDraw
• Mac OS 7.1 or later
• Claris XTND System
How much should I pay for it?
DocBreaker is distributed as SHAREWARE (not freeware). After a 15 days trial period, if you decide to continue using it, you are required to register your copy by sending me the requested fee.
The fee for a single user license is US$ 15. You can obtain an unlimited site license for US$ 300 or an unlimited world license for US$1,200.
To register, please use the "Register" application that came with the software.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
Unregistered copies of DocBreaker cannot generate more than 5 files from a single document.
If you are trying one of the AppleScript samples with an unregistered copy, you will notice a long delay before execution begins: don't be afraid, it's not a crash, it's the normal delay produced by the startup screen. Just wait, it will be bypassed, you will only need to dismiss the screen after the script end in order to quit DocBreaker.
